Nina Manning
My personal yoga journey began later in life, after having my two daughters. Yoga became a cornerstone for my well-being, and my early training with Sivananda teachers in London inspired me to deepen my practice. I eventually traveled to India in 2007 to study at the Sivananda School, where I earned my certification as a yoga instructor. Since then, my path has expanded in ways I never imagined.
In 2011, I completed my training as a Yoga Therapist at Teach Yoga in London under Elena Voyce, driven by a desire to heal my own body. I was diagnosed with scoliosis, kyphosis, and lordosis – all conditions affecting my spine – and yoga has been my constant companion in this long, unwinding healing journey.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of training with renowned teachers like Claire Missingham, an expert in Vinyasa Flow, and Swami Saradananda, from whom I gained certification in meditation instruction. I am also passionate about Yin Yoga, having studied the Paul Grilley method, and I embrace the depth of all authentic yoga styles – even the occasional Ashtanga class! During the lockdown, I further enriched my practice by completing a fascinating course on Yoga and the Gut with Elena Voyce.
In 2012, I partnered with Active Hastings, to run Yoga classes for the over 50s; a Government funded initiative for the local council. These classes flourished, and I became a well-established member of the Hastings yoga community. More recently I am undertaking a 4 year course to become Feldenkrais Practitioner, a form of somatic education that uses ingenious and mindful movement to improve habits by stimulating the neuroplasticity of the brain. The key to a long and healthy life is movement!
Now living in Burwash, I remain deeply connected to my Hastings yoga family and am excited to expand my classes into nearby areas such as Wadhurst and Etchingham. I offer both community classes and private sessions, and since 2017, I’ve had the honour of leading yoga retreats abroad, helping students deepen their practice in beautiful, serene settings.
Whether you are just beginning your yoga journey or seeking to refine your practice, I invite you to join me for an experience of growth, healing, and self-discovery.
